China Jan-Feb FDI falls 26.2 pct to $13.4 billionPublished: 15 Mar 2009 18:48:49 PST BEIJING, March 16 – China drew $13.37 billion inforeign direct investment (FDI) in the first two months of theyear, 26.2 percent less than in the same period in 2008, theCommerce Ministry said on Monday. The ministry released the figure at a news conference. It gave the number for the first two months together to avoiddistortions caused by the timing of Chinese New Year, which fellin January this year but in February in 2008. FDI in February alone was $5.83 billion, down 15.8 percentcompared with a year earlier. China attracted a record $92.4 billion in non-financial FDIin 2008, an increase of 23.6 percent from 2007. Inflows have surged since the country joined the World TradeOrganisation in 2001.
